Amazon’s slow-but-steady move into health care continues, this time with the news that it will offer a lower-cost version of Amazon Prime to Medicaid recipients. Rather than $10.99 per month, membership will cost $5.99 per month. The company already offers discounted Prime to people using other forms of government assistance, but the Medicaid program will most likely get additional attention given Amazon’s much-hyped entry into health care. It already sells medical supplies and recently announced plans with JPMorgan Chase and Berkshire Hathaway to create a new company focused on lowering employee health care costs.
