Prices of average American cellphone plans are going up for the first time in two years, as wireless providers cut promotions, according to the Department of Labor's consumer-price index. Prices were up 0.3% year-over-year in June. Over 2017, wireless prices had dropped so significantly that Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen mentioned the drop as a factor in the U.S.'s low inflation. Sprint and T-Mobile, among the companies with the highest price cuts, said they would not offer as many discounts in the coming year.
