I must say, I can't believe that I've ever seen a template with this high a proportion of redlinks. Not sure that it even should be used. Unschool (talk) 02:37, 1 February 2008 (UTC)Reply I think it might be more helpful to change it to Template:History of slavery in North America.Harrypotter (talk) 01:10, 21 August 2010 (UTC)Reply Removing the section heading 'Topics' edit

Can't figure out the code to do that and keep coming up with a truncated template, please give it a try. The 'Topics' section-title seems unneeded and removing it would add wider horizontal template space. Thanks. Randy Kryn (talk) 12:24, 24 June 2021 (UTC)Reply Note that column 2 is sorted vertically (the subheadings under topics), but column one is not. I think that's a misrake but don't know how to fix it myself. deisenbe (talk) 13:33, 24 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. Removed the vertical coding which at least centered the word 'Topics', but subsequent fiddling with the coding shows nothing underneath the 'History' section. Randy Kryn (talk) 14:05, 24 June 2021 (UTC)ReplySuggested edit edit

I can't figure out how or I would just do it boldly but I propose removing the following redlinks, which is not to say that they couldn't be added back later but I would argue in most cases they are superfluous to the point and I think distracting to the point of undermining the value of the template. thoughts?

  • History of slavery in Hawaii - if there was any, can be covered in general history of pre-American colonization Hawaii
  • History of slavery in Idaho - low population state admitted long after legal abolition of U.S. slavery, cases of aboriginal or illegal slavery can be covered in specific articles
  • History of slavery in Maine - no need for specific slavery history article bc part of Massachusetts as District of Maine then admitted as a free state under Missouri Compromise
  • History of slavery in Nevada - low-population state admitted during the ACW with multiple constitutions prohibiting slavery
  • History of slavery in Oregon - see history of slavery in the United States for links to relevant history articles
  • History of slavery in Washington (state) - ditto
  • History of slavery in Wyoming - low population state admitted long after legal abolition of U.S. slavery, cases of aboriginal or illegal slavery can be covered in specific articles
