  • 5 September - The (NPD) National Democratic Party of Germany Stefan Jagsch becomes the Mayor of the Waldsiedlung. The unanimous election of the NPD politician in the local council shocks other parties including Angela Merkel's Christian Democratic Union (CDU), the center-left Social Democrats (SPD), and the liberal Free Democratic Party (FDP), whose local council members voted for Jagsch.[5][6]
